Judge Amy Coney Barrett vowed on Monday to serve her term "faithfully and impartially" if she was to be confirmed as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
During her first hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Barrett expressed her "deep belief in the rule of law," and stressed that she is ready to endure the "sacrifices" which the role entails.
US President Donald Trump's decision to nominate Coney Barrett for SCOTUS was met with criticism from the Democratic Party, whose leaders claimed that the incumbent president shouldn't appoint the person to take late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's place so close to the presidential elections.
