Tennis world number one Novak Djokovic will play at the Australian Open after receiving a vaccination "exemption permission" to compete in this year's first Grand Slam event of the season
All players participating in the tournament are required to be vaccinated against the coronavirus but organizers noted they may give some medical exemptions. "There are two medical panels that assess any application, and they assess it in a blind way. They don’t know who the applicant is," Tennis Australia head Craig Tiley stated.
After getting the exemption, Djokovic will try to defend his title and thus claim a men's record 21st Grand Slam singles title.
