Bank of Latvia Governor and European Central Bank (ECB) governing council member Martins Kazaks said on Wednesday that the ECB hiking interest rates in early 2023 is a "possible scenario."
The central banker added that the ECB will continue to monitor the situation and be ready to raise rates or cut stimulus if necessary. Particularly, he stressed the bank will be ready to intervene if the inflation outlook picks up.
Earlier, ECB President Christine Lagarde stressed the bank is "very unlikely" to raise interest rates before 2023.
