The European Commission announced on Monday that it will rule on Walt Disney Company's proposed acquisition of 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets by October 19. The announcement comes after Disney submitted a request for EU's antitrust approval last week.
In June, Disney reached the final deal to purchase Fox's assets for $71.3 billion, outbidding Comcast's offer for the company. The United States Department of Justice approved the merger shortly after on condition Disney divested 22 of Fox's regional sports networks, while Disney shareholders backed the proposed purchase in July.
