Major European stock exchanges opened with losses on Friday after the latest data on the United Kingdom's economy. The country's gross domestic product showed no growth, and the trade deficit went down during the third quarter of the year. Meanwhile, industrial production remained unchanged.
Market participants will now shift their attention to European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde's speech expected in the hours ahead.
The DAX lost 0.36%, with Zalando SE dropping by 2.46%. The CAC 40 decreased by 0.51%. The pan-European Euro Stoxx 50 edged down 0.50% with Adidas AG losing 1.96% at 9:06 am CET. The FTSE 100 shrank by 0.66%. The euro was flat against the dollar at 8:29 am CET, selling for $1.06627. The pound gained 0.07% to go for $1.22264 simultaneously.
