The annual inflation rate in the Eurozone is expected to reach 2.4% in December, the European Commission's statistical office Eurostat said in its preliminary report published on Tuesday.
Services were predicted as the main driver of the rise, with their annual inflation rate projected to come in at 4.0%. They were to be followed by food, alcohol and tobacco at 2.7%, non-energy industrial goods at 0.5%, and energy at 0.1%.
Compared to the previous month, the rate was foreseen to hit 0.4%. The core index, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, was projected to rise by 0.5% month-on-month and 2.7% year-on-year.
