Facebook Inc. stated on Wednesday that it wants United States Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan (pictured) to recuse herself from the regulator's discussions on whether or not to open a new antitrust case against the social media giant.
In a petition to the FTC, Facebook said that Khan was prejudiced towards it, saying that she made public comments in the past accusing Facebook of actions that "merits disapproval" and has "elements of an antitrust offense." In light of this, Facebook asserted that "due process requires that individual [Khan] to recuse herself."
Facebook's petition comes just two weeks after Amazon.com Inc. also asked Khan to recuse herself on similar grounds. On the other hand, Khan stated that she will consult with the watchdog's ethics officials to see whether she needs to recuse herself or not.
