United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Special Agent Aletha Duncan shared on Wednesday during a press conference that an improvised explosive device (IED) was found following a fatal incident that took place in New Orleans.

"We are working on confirming if it is a viable device or not," the agent remarked, adding however, that this was not an act of terrorism. Meanwhile, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell labeled the event as a "terrorist attack" during the same press conference. New Orleans Police Department head Anne Kirkpatrick stated that the suspect was "hell-bent on creating the carnage ... [and] trying to run over as many people as he possibly could."

Everything is still under investigation. The vehicle that crashed into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street claimed at least 10 lives. According to ABC News, the perpetrator was shot and killed during a fire exchange with the police.
