South Korea Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho claimed Thursday that the latest hike implemented by the United States Federal Reserve will amplify the market's volatility, adding extra economic uncertainty.

"As the US and Europe have been accelerating their aggressive monetary tightening, there is a possibility that high uncertainty in the financial markets will last for a considerable period of time," Choo said at a meeting with top financial regulators.

Previously, the United States Federal Reserve announced it will increase the target range for the federal funds rate by three-quarters of a percentage point to between 3% and 3.25%.
