Fidan says Assad's location unknown, hints he may be outside Syria

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan (pictured) said Turkish authorities don't know the current location of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"We do not know where he is. Perhaps he is outside Syria," he told Turkish television network TRT Haber. Fidan also clarified that Ankara has had no recent communication with Assad. "There have been no contacts with him," he said during a press conference. He added that Ankara would cooperate with neighboring countries to work with a new government in Damascus if one emerges.
