FTC loses appeal aiming to stop Microsoft-Activision deal

The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lost its appeal seeking to block Microsoft Corp. from buying Activision Blizzard Inc. The FTC appealed a California judge's decision to dismiss its request for an injunction but the US Appeals Court for the Ninth Circuit rejected it.

The decision cleared another hurdle for the $69 billion deal after it was approved by regulators in the European Union. Microsoft is still working on getting the acquisition greenlit by the British government, with the United Kingdom's Competition Market Authority (CMA) extending its probe for another six weeks.
