The Federal Trade Commission is planning to file for an injunction in an effort to stop Microsoft Corporation's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, valued at $69 billion, CNBC reported on Monday citing a source familiar with the matter.
By filing for a temporary restraining order, FTC, who previously sued the tech giant over the proposed agreement, will be seeking to block the deal from being realized before the July 18 deadline. According to the source, with this move, the US regulator wants to keep the transaction at bay until its internal administrative law judge (ALJ) initially rules on the case.
The case will be brought before the ALJ in August. Back in April, the deal was blocked by the United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority.
