Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido promised he would return home "this week," after having defied a government travel ban and visited neighboring Colombia.

He accused President Nicolas Maduro's government of turning Venezuela into a "sanctuary of terrorists," adding that "the reality in Venezuela is we have a regime that is against its people." "Today, we need to find a way to solve this crisis," he noted during a Lima Group meeting in Bogota, Colombia.

The initial reason for his visit to Colombia, prior to taking part in the meeting, was to lead a caravan with volunteers and members of the National Assembly in an effort to bring humanitarian aid from the United States into Venezuela.
