United States Vice President Kamala Harris said that she's "looking forward" to formally accepting the Democratic nomination "soon," Axios reported, citing an emailed statement.
Her comments came after a survey conducted by the Associated Press showed that she had surpassed the benchmark number of delegates needed to become her party's presumptive nominee. "Tonight, I am proud to have secured the broad support needed to become our party's nominee, and as a daughter of California, I am proud that my home state's delegation helped put our campaign over the top," Harris continued. She thanked US President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party for their support.
"This election will present a clear choice between two different visions. Donald Trump wants to take our country back to a time before many of us had full freedoms and equal rights," Harris added.
