United States National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett insisted on Monday that he is "100% not expecting a recession" this year, adding that the administration is making "enormous progress" in trade negotiations with the European Union.
In an interview with Fox Business, Hassett rejected the allegations of insider trading at the White House ahead of US President Donald Trump's decision to pause most tariffs. He added that the semiconductor levy, which will be unveiled by Trump in the coming days, will target chips that "influence national security."
