Honda Motor Co. Ltd. will be boosting base wages for its factory workers in the United States, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday citing a memo it obtained.
According to the memo, while the wage increases will be effective starting January 2024, the carmaker will also be improving some other conditions for the staff. In addition, the company will slash the time needed to reach top wages to three years, from the previously required six years. A Honda spokesperson confirmed the details of the memo.
The decision comes not long after the United Auto Workers (UAW) struck a deal with Stellantis N.V., General Motors Company, and Ford Motor Company on achieving better working conditions.
