The House of Representatives will not adopt the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) unless Mexico passes appropriate legislation protecting workers' rights, Speaker Nancy Pelosi told Politico in an interview published on Tuesday.
The speaker also raised worries over enforcement provisions for the deal set to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Earlier, US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, warned it would be a "catastrophe" if the new trade deal was not approved by Congress.
