Huawei's CFO, Wanzhou Meng, was arrested in Vancouver, Canada under suspicion she violated United States sanctions against Iran, local media reported.

"Wanzhou Meng was arrested in Vancouver on December 1. She is sought for extradition by the United States, and a bail hearing has been set for Friday," a Justice Department spokesperson told the Globe and Mail.

A report by the Wall Street Journal in April revealed the US Department of Justice investigated the Chinese tech giant "on national security grounds." Huawei replied it "complies with all applicable laws and regulations" of the countries in which it operates.
