Israeli army chief Halevi to visit US for high-level talks

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi (pictured) will travel to the United States on Monday for an official visit, IDF announced in a statement.

He is slated to meet with top US military leaders, including Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Charles Q. Brown Jr. and US Central Command Commander General Michael E. Kurilla, to discuss strategic and operational matters. According to the announcement, Halevi "will take the opportunity to express his gratitude to his counterparts for their support, commitment and personal ties." The statement added he also plans to "explore ways" to strengthen military cooperation between the two nations.

His visit is set to conclude on February 20.
