United States National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby disclosed on Friday that Washington will "redouble" its efforts and open up a maritime corridor to move humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip in addition to a previously announced decision by President Joe Biden to airdrop assistance into the enclave.
"By no means should what happened yesterday prevent additional humanitarian assistance from getting in," Kirby stressed during the press briefing. "We will continue to push Israel to facilitate more trunks going in and more routes being open, so that more aid can get to more people," he added, stressing that Washington instructed Israel to investigate the incident that resulted in the death of over a hundred people while seeking humanitarian aid in northern Gaza.
Kirby detailed that there will be more than one of Washington's airdrop aid deliveries, adding that the first batch will include meals.
