Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov (pictured) stated that the United States Department of Defense's (DoD) remarks admitting allowing Ukraine to use US weapons to strike Crimea threaten to expand the conflict, TASS reported on Wednesday.

"This is a reflection of the policy of egging on Kiev and giving Kiev complete indulgences for any crimes, any provocations that are fraught with the gravest consequences in terms of the growing threat of a wider conflict," Ryabkov told reporters on the sidelines of the BRICS Civil Forum.

"There will be no contacts with the US after the dangerous approach of American UAVs to Russian aircraft," the official said regarding a Russian fighter jet that flew "dangerously close" to a US drone over Syria and damaged it with flares.
