French President Emmanuel Macron expressed hopes on Monday that France's potential recognition of a Palestinian state would inspire other countries to take similar actions.
Speaking at the Arab World Institute in Paris, Macron emphasized that the move should also encourage nations that have not yet recognized Israel to do so. "What we want to trigger is a series of other recognitions, including Israel's recognition by states that currently do not," he stated.
Macron's comments came ahead of a June UN conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, where discussions on Palestinian recognition will take place. Additionally, Macron is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday to further discuss the matter.
