United States House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told CNBC on Wednesday that he believes that the country will not default on its debt.

"I think at the end of the day, we do not have a debt default," McCarthy remarked, commenting on the ongoing negotiations to raise the debt ceiling. He assessed that the parties now have "a structure to find a way to come to a conclusion," going on to promise they will "get this done."

McCarthy yesterday stated that it would be feasible to secure a deal by the end of the week, a sentiment mostly shared by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries in his statement today.
