Microsoft completes acquisition of Activision Blizzard

After 19 months of lengthy regulatory scrutiny, Microsoft Corp. has completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, according to a Form 8-K released by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday.

Earlier today, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) approved the revised deal with Activision, a move that followed the announcement by the US Federal Trade Commission back in July about the withdrawal of its complaint to block the merger.

Microsoft first announced the proposed takeover in January 2022, but since then, it faced regulatory challenges in the US, Europe, and the UK. The deal, valued at $69 billion, provides Microsoft with a substantial portfolio of video game franchises.
