Former President of Bolivia Evo Morales announced his resignation on Sunday amid the anti-government protests around the country. Alvaro Garcia Linera, a former Vice-President, decided to step down as well.
"My fight will continue, but I have an obligation to try to secure peace. For this and many other reasons I am resigning and sending my letter of resignation to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly," Morales said in his resignation speech.
Earlier on Sunday, Bolivian Army commander Williams Kaliman and the Chief of Bolivia's Police Vladimir Yuri Calderon both urged Morales to resign due to violent riot against his alleged fraud re-election.
