Former Bolivian President Evo Morales announced his candidacy for his country's next election, scheduled for 2025.

Writing on social media, Morales said he decided to run having received requests to do so from numerous members of his Movement for Socialism (MAS) party and "so many brothers and sisters who attend rallies throughout the country to be a candidate for the presidency of our beloved Bolivia."

Morales served as the Latin American country's president from 2005 to 2019. He resigned following the controversial 2019 election, which saw his official victory; however, the public questioned the results and took to the streets to show its opposition to them. Morales then left the position and temporarily went into exile. He returned to Bolivia in 2020.
