South Korean Military stated on Wednesday that North Korea launched an unidentified projectile, however, the firing went awry as the launch was allegedly unsuccessful, reported Yonhap news agency.
"At this point, our assessment is that the projectile launch appears to have been botched as it failed to reach a certain altitude in its early boost phase," an anonymous official from Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) told the reporters, adding that "for other specifics, we need a detailed analysis as we cannot comment based on assumptions."
JCS said that the projectile was fired from the Sunan area in Pyongyang, the same place where the previous missile was launched, at the beginning of March. Earlier, South Korean Preisdent-elect Yoon Suk-yeol urged North Korea to continue negotiations on the denuclearization of the peninsula.
