Former world number 1 Rafael Nadal beat Canada's Denis Shapovalov in five sets on Tuesday to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open.
The Spaniard took the first two sets but then Shapovalov staged a comeback and managed to take the match into the decider. However, after surviving a break point at the start of the fifth set, Nadal took the Canadian's serve and kept his serve to close the match with the scoreline 6-3 6-4 4-6 3-6 6-3.
In the semi-final, Nadal will play the winner of the match between France's Gael Monfils and Italy's Matteo Merrettini.
