Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday in a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that one of Hamas' goals when striking Israel on October 7 was "destroying Israel's regional peace moves."

Netanyahu reiterated that this will be a long war, adding that the country will need the United Kingdom's "continuous support" in order to win. "There will be ups and downs. There will be difficulties, [but] the people here are united [and] ready to take necessary actions," he underscored.

Meanwhile, Sunak once again reaffirmed the UK's support for Israel. "We absolutely support Israel's right to defend itself in line with international law," he stressed.
