European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell revealed on Monday that the bloc is nearing a "consensus" to demand a "humanitarian pause" in the Gaza Strip in order to deliver aid to the Palestinian enclave.
Speaking at the press briefing after the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, Borrell pointed out that the "pause" is seen as "necessary," but clarified that it is not the same as a ceasefire. "We support the two-state solution," Borrell emphasized, adding that the right to self-defense is subject to the constraints set by international law.
"According to humanitarian law, a population under siege cannot be deprived of water and electricity," Borrell highlighted.
