Niger's military junta has given France's ambassador Sylvain Itte 48 hours to leave the country, the Niger Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a communique on Friday.

According to the document, the cause of the expulsion is the ambassador's refusal "to respond to the invitation" of the ministry "for an interview."

Furthermore, the document cites "other actions of the French government contrary to the interests of Niger."
