Nintendo Co. Ltd. is planning to release two new versions of its video game console Switch later this year, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday citing people familiar with the matter.
The new consoles are likely to be unveiled in June during the E3 videogame Expo in Los Angeles and released several months later, according to the sources. The article noted that one model will have "enhanced features targeted at avid videogamers," while the second version will be cheaper and aimed at "casual gamers."
Nintendo unveiled the first Switch console in 2016 and began selling it the following year. Switch hardware and software sales account for over 80% of the company's revenue.
