No new US-China tariffs from January - report

United States President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed not to impose any new tariffs on each other's imports from January 1, Chinese state television channel CGTN reported, adding that the two sides will continue negotiating.

United States National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow stated the meeting between Trump and Xi during the G20 summit in Argentina went "very well," but the American side has not yet revealed any details.

Washington and Beijing have been embroiled in a trade dispute which resulted in introducing protective measures. Trump stated in November it is "highly unlikely" he will delay the 25% tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, while US Vice President Mike Pence said the tariffs "could more than double" if China does not "change its ways."
