The Norwegian Government has decided to officially acknowledge Palestine as a sovereign state on May 28, Norway Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store (pictured) stated on Wednesday.
"Norway recognises Palestine as a state, in line with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions. That means that Norway will consider Palestine to be an independent state with rights and duties this entails," Gahr posted on X. He also stressed the importance of a two-state solution for achieving peace in the region.
Later today, Spain and Ireland are expected to follow suit and formally recognize Palestine as well.
