Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu (pictured) accused western powers on Monday of trying to cover up the truth behind the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"We see how those, who speak of freedom of press in the world, cover this thing up when they see money," Cavusoglu said at a youth meeting in Istanbul as cited by Anadolu Agency. He added that Ankara made "preparations for an international probe in the coming days" and will "take the necessary steps" to find those responsible for the killing.

Earlier, the United States vowed to maintain ties with Saudi Arabia despite the CIA reportedly concluding Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman ordered the Khashoggi murder and the US Senate passing a resolution which blames Bin Salman. Last week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo insisted Riyad is committed to the investigation into the Khashoggi killing and holding those responsible accountable.
