Ride-hailing company Ola has announced it launched its ride-hailing services in the UK capital on Monday, amid threats that have been looming around its competitor Uber of being banned. Both firms count on Japan's SoftBank as a common investor, and although they both are using similar apps, Ola states that it developed more-advanced safety features that they hope will earn them a bigger market share in the taxi-booking services business.
The India-based firm further explains its app has been packed with an artificial intelligence-powered system by the name Guardian, which serves the purpose of determining eventual deviations in routes, while also introducing a unique four-digit code upon the passenger's entry into the car, that has to be input at the start of every trip.
Ola's head of international operations Simon Smith speaking to CNBC on Monday revealed their aspirations of being the number one leader in ride-hailing business in London saying "We believe that, with our proposition around quality and safety, offering a great experience not only for customers but drivers as well, there is no reason why we can’t be market leader in this market.”
