Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated Wednesday that it is up to President Joe Biden whether or not he runs for president of the United States. The comment was made during an interview on the Morning Joe show.
"It's up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We're all encouraging him to make that decision. Because time is running short," Pelosi said. Later in the interview, when host Jonathan Lemire asked if she wanted him to seek a second term, Pelosi reiterated her support for the president's choice. "I want him to do whatever he decides to do. And that's the way it is. Whatever he decides, we go with," she added.
Pelosi also highlighted the importance of the NATO summit in Washington, where world leaders are gathered to discuss global affairs and the war in Ukraine. In that sense, she suggested that Biden should concentrate on the meeting before turning his attention back to the re-election decision. "Let's just hold off. Whatever you're thinking, either tell somebody privately, but you don't have to put that out on the table until we see how we go this week," Pelosi advised.
