The Holy See Press Office said on Saturday Pope Francis' condition shows a "gradual" and "mild" improvement, as he remains hospitalized in Rome's Gemelli hospital.
"The Holy Father's clinical condition over the last few days has remained stable and, consequently, shows a good response to the therapies," the statement read. Nevertheless, the Vatican maintained a cautious prognosis due to the Pope's underlying double pneumonia.
Earlier this morning, Pope Francis received the Eucharist and "alternated between rest and work activities," the Holy See concluded.
