French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said the public debates prompted by the Yellow Vests movement showed "in which direction we need to go: we need to lower taxes and lower them faster." Philippe also seemed to imply the government will completely abandon the previously planned fuel tax, one of the initial reasons for the mobilization of protesters.

The prime minister also vowed to reestablish the balance between the cities and smaller communities, by reviewing urbanistic plans and investing further in public transport. He also mentioned health care as one of the main issues raised by the citizens at the debates and announced plans to address some of the immediate concerns.
