Syrian rebel forces confirmed that they've started entering the country's capital city of Damascus.
"Our forces have begun entering the capital Damascus," the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group said on Telegram. "We celebrate with the Syrian people the news of freeing our prisoners and releasing their chains and announcing the end of the era of injustice in Sednaya prison," the group said, announcing it had broken into a notorious Damascus military jail.
Unverified footage circulating on social media appears to show people rushing out of the prison grounds.
