United States Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told Fox Business on Monday that it is more important to get the "right" trade deal with China than to sign it in November.
The comments come after President Donald Trump stated that the "phase one" deal should be "easy to sign" next month. Earlier, Trump announced Washington and Beijing reached a partial trade agreement during this month's negotiations. China later stressed the two countries agreed to "work together in the direction of the final agreement," hinting some more discussions are needed before it is finalized.
Ross noted today that Chinese tech giant Huawei, as well as the additional tariffs on Chinese goods set to take effect in mid-December, are not a part of the phase one deal.
