The Russian Foreign Ministry responded on Monday to Japan's recent sanctions imposed on Russia amid the conflict in Ukraine.
Russia decided to terminate visa-free travel for Japanese citizens to the southern Kuril Islands despite the treaty between the Russian-held islands and Japan. Furthermore, Russia will withdraw from the dialogue with Japan on the establishment of joint economic activities in Southern Kurils.
Russia will also block Japan’s status as a partner of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in the sectoral dialogue.
