The Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) for High-Ranking Officials said on Wednesday that South Korean impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol refused to testify during questioning over the martial law declaration after he was arrested earlier in the day.
A CIO official told reporters in a press briefing that the department's Deputy Director Lee Jae-seung conducted a questioning for two and a half hours, but Yoon declined to make any statements.
South Korea's authorities arrested Yoon for briefly imposing martial law in early December after a first attempt to arrest him failed.
