Scotland's Yousaf allegedly set to resign

Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf is allegedly considering resigning as the country's first minister, deeming his position to no longer be defendable, The Times reported, citing senior figures from the Scottish National Party (SNP).

He may leave his post as soon as Monday, since he does not expect to withstand the vote of no confidence that he is set to face later in the week, due to not being able to gather enough members of parliament to back him after ousting the Scottish Greens party from the government. "Humza knows what’s best for the country and the party. He is first party activist and a party man, and that’s why he knows it’s time for someone else," one of his close acquaintances is quoted as having said.

Former SNP leader John Swinney was supposedly approached by the party's officials to become an interim first minister should Yousaf be forced from office.
