The UN Security Council is expected to vote on Monday on the status of Jerusalem, two weeks after United States President Donald Trump announced the US is moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, media reported.
The draft, obtained by several media outlets, says it "deeply regrets recent decisions regarding the status of Jerusalem" and calls on all UN member states not to move their diplomatic missions to Jerusalem. "Any decisions and actions which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded in compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council," the draft said.
Jerusalem is important to Islam, Judaism, and Christianity making the city the main sticking point in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Earlier this month, Trump declared Jerusalem the capital of the Israeli state prompting rage across the world.
