The United States Senate voted in favor of passing the bill that would end government shutdown, sending the budget measure to the House, before it goes to President Donald Trump's desk for signature. There were 81 lawmakers supporting the deal to provide financing, against 18 who were against it, of which two Republicans and 16 Democrats.
Earlier in the day, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated that a bipartisan deal to end the government shutdown was reached.
After the deal was struck, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders stated that US President was "pleased the Democrats and the Congress have come to their senses" in regard to the government shutdown.
