The shares of tech giant Snap Inc. surged more than 11% on Monday following the news the social media platform integrated a customized version of OpenAI's ChatGPT into its app.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel argued over the weekend that chatbots powered by artificial intelligence will become a part of people's daily lives. The latest tool will bring a "personal sidekick" to the app with which users can chatter on various topics.
While the feature is currently available only for Snapchat Plus subscribers, the company plans to roll out the AI-powered bot worldwide in the near future. Snap's stocks soared 11.36% to $11.86 apiece at 10:25 am ET, rebounding to the highest level since early February registering their strongest day since November.
