American robotics company Nuro announced on Monday SoftBank Group Corp's Vision Fund will invest $940 million into the company's self-driving delivery service.
Co-founder Dave Ferguson said the new partnership will allow Nuro "to take the next step in realizing the company's vision for local commerce and the broad application of its technology." The startup, which has previously secured a national partnership with Kroger to do grocery delivery, has already launched an unmanned delivery service in Arizona
"Nuro’s world-class team has successfully scaled their self-driving technology out of the lab and into the streets," Michael Ronen, Managing Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers said, adding the startup's team managed to develop Nuro "from a concept into a real business using robotics to connect retailers to customers."
