Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said on Monday that Scotland has "got what it takes to be a successful independent country."
"Never let anyone tell us otherwise," Sturgeon insisted at the Scottish National Party (SNP) conference. She also accused the government of United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss of "utterly failing" in managing the cost of living crisis. "Each and every day its actions are making matters worse," the Scottish official claimed. In the speech, she also vowed to make Aberdeen the "net zero capital of the world."
In June, Sturgeon announced that Scotland plans to hold a second independence referendum in 2023, stressing it would be "consultative."
