UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin (pictured) revealed on Monday that football players who appear in the controversial Super League will be prohibited from playing for their national teams in the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship.
"We will take all the sanctions that we can," he warned the breakaway clubs during a press conference. "I cannot stress more strongly at this moment that UEFA and the football world stand united against the disgraceful self-serving proposal by a few clubs motivated by greed. We are all united against this nonsense of a project."
Earlier in the day, JPMorgan Chase & Co. confirmed that it will finance the new football competition.
